Welcome to Winchester Skating Club

We know it is only August, but the skating season will be here before you know it.  Take a moment and check your child's skates to make sure they still fit.  It is surprising how fast little feet grow over the summer.  We do have an assortment of used skates at the arena along with some skating clothing.  Check it out when you come for registration on Wednesday, August 20th or Tuesday, September 9th.

The Winchester Skating Club is happy to announce we have two new coaches for the 2008-2009 skating season.  Scott Waddell and Amy Baker will be joining our club.  Scott has been coaching for many years and will be a great addition to our wonderful coaching staff.  Scott will be available for lessons on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for Advanced CanSkate, Intermediate and Senior times.  You can contact Scott regarding lessons at (613) 925-0646 or email him  at scott@scottwaddell.ca .  Amy has grown up in our club and taught in the club before leaving to continue her education in the teaching profession.  She volunteered last year with our canskate program after returning to the Winchester area.  Amy will be teaching in the canskakte/tiny tot program on Tuesdays and Thursdays this year.  We are very fortunate to have Amy back in our club.

Winchester Skating Club has a new addition to its skating family.  Leanne van der Zweep (one of our amazing coaches) and her husband, Syd van der Zweep welcomed their first child, Mason born on Sunday, July 27th to their family.  Congratulations to Syd and Leanne!

Our club strives to encourage the love of skating whether you're just learning to skate or  have been skating for years.  We believe children should skate for fun, fitness and achievement.  We want to provide the opportunity for all children to learn to skate.

We are a Skate Canada accredited club based in Winchester, Ontario. We are part of Area 4 of the Eastern Ontario Section. The Winchester Skating club has been operating since 1974.  We hope to see you for the 2008-2009 skating season.

This web site is intended to be a focal point for our members - a place where they can quickly get pertinent information about the club and its activities. It will also give the general public a glimpse into the organization and activities that go into operating a successful skating club.  We welcome back our "Cutting Edge" newsletter.  You can download a copy by going to "Newsletter" from the dropdown menu under the Home tab.

Peanut Allergies:  A skater in our club has been indentified as having a severe peanut allergy.  WSC would like to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction and are asking our members to only bring peanut free skacks to the rink during Tiny Tots/Canskate time on Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Check out our competition and test day results!  Our skaters have had a termendous year.  You can find results under "Skaters Wall of Fame", under the competition and test day tab.  We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our skaters on a most successful year.

Dairyfest Bake Sale for our Club
The bake sale went terrific.  Even though crowds were down for Dairyfest, we still make over $600.00 on our bake sale.  Thank you to all who donated baked goods or their time.  Also a big thank you to Andy's Foodland for inviting us to share their outside location for our sale.  We also held a BBQ in cooperation with Andy's and ended up with $585.00 to add to the day.
